FOUNDATION.LK, in partnership with The Asia Foundation’s Sri Lanka office, has launched a “Cyber Hygiene” online course through the APAC Cybersecurity Fund, a regional initiative supported by Google.org. As the course implementing partner, FOUNDATION.LK is delivering the national cybersecurity training program through Suhurusara.lk, a dedicated Learning Management System enabling nationwide access to foundational cybersecurity training.
The APAC Cybersecurity Fund aims to provide foundational cybersecurity training to 13,000 individuals, including employees from 8,000 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and university students across Sri Lanka. The program focuses on cyber hygiene practices, digital risk awareness, and practical tools to help users navigate online environments more securely.
A key component of the Sri Lanka initiative is the development and hosting of the structured cybersecurity curriculum on FOUNDATION.LK’s Suhurusara.lk LMS platform, enabling:
- Nationwide online accessibility
- Scalable delivery of training content
- Standardized and quality-assured learning experiences
- Continuous access to course materials for free
- Monitoring and evaluation capabilities to track participation and impact
Drawing on its expertise in digital education infrastructure, the Suhurusara.lk team designed the online course to facilitate open-access learning and support effective knowledge transfer across diverse sectors, including MSMEs, NGOs, social enterprises, and universities. This online course features six modules on core cybersecurity fundamentals—from cyber threat basics and password security to two-factor authentication, data backups, and more practical essentials. Each module ends with a short assessment, and participants who complete all six modules receive a certificate of completion.
Speaking at the launch, Niroja Jayawickrama, Chief Executive Officer of FOUNDATION.LK stated:
“We are proud to have developed and hosted this comprehensive cybersecurity course on our Suhurusara.lk LMS platform. By leveraging our digital infrastructure, we are ensuring that essential cybersecurity knowledge reaches businesses and students across the country in a structured, scalable, and sustainable manner.”
Speaking at the launch, Rukshanie Vidyaratne, Asia Policy Lead and Senior Program Manager, Inclusive Economic Development, The Asia Foundation, stated:
“We’re delighted to partner with FOUNDATION.LK to ensure our cybersecurity training knowledge lives well beyond this project’s timeline, now accessible anytime through the Suhurusara.lk LMS. Their proven expertise in building user-friendly, manageable courses perfectly complements our deep field experience working directly with MSMEs across Sri Lanka, along with our extensive pool of skilled trainers. We believe this will be a very helpful tool for many micro, small, and medium business owners in Sri Lanka when exploring cyberspaces.”
