Payable CEO Yohan Wijesiriwardane named ‘FinTech Leader of the Year’ at Sri Lanka FinTech Festival 2026

Yohan Wijesiriwardane, Co-Founder and CEO of Sri Lanka’s largest payments aggregator Payable, was recognised as ‘FinTech Leader of the Year’ at Sri Lanka FinTech Festival 2026, honouring his contribution towards helping move Sri Lanka’s financial technology industry forward.

Presented at FinTech Night at Shangri-La Colombo, the special award recognises individual leadership that advances the country’s fintech sector. The peer-nominated category forms part of the Sri Lanka FinTech Awards, organised by FinTech Forum Sri Lanka in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Economy, with the Postgraduate Institute of Management as Knowledge Partner.

Held across two days, Sri Lanka FinTech Festival 2026 brought together financial institutions, fintech businesses, policymakers, investors and technology providers to strengthen collaboration and support the development of Sri Lanka’s digital economy. Its programme included CEOs Night, the FinTech Expo and FinTech Night, combining industry discussions, technology showcases and recognition of progress across the sector. The festival’s discussions focused on fintech innovation, sustainable business growth, financial inclusion, as well as security and fraud prevention. By bringing these conversations together with its awards programme, the event delivered a platform to share practical experiences, build partnerships and recognise the people helping Sri Lanka’s digital finance industry progress.

Expressing his gratitude at the award win, Yohan Wijesiriwardane stated, “It gives me immense pride to be recognised by my peers and receive this prestigious award. Sri Lanka’s Fintech industry is moving forward at a rapid pace with a large number of organisations are pushing the boundaries of innovation in Sri Lanka’s digital economy today. Events such as the Sri Lanka FinTech Festival is exactly what the industry needs to bring together all the key players on to a single platform to discuss what we have achieved and map out a way forward to ensure further sustainable growth. At Payable, we are proud to be a part of this revolution through our payment infrastructure that currently serves more than 45,000+ merchants across Sri Lanka and has processed over LKR 170 billion+ in card payments to date.”

Incepted in 2014, Payable is focused on enabling businesses to accept digital payments through modern and scalable payment solutions. Payable works closely with local banks, global card networks, and technology partners to deliver innovative payment solutions that simplify digital transactions for merchants and consumers alike. Through its continued expansion and focus on merchant-led payment innovation, the company has emerged as a key participant in Sri Lanka’s evolving fintech ecosystem, helping accelerate the country’s transition toward greater digital payment adoption. Earlier this year, Short Circuit, a regional tech powerhouse built to deliver transformation at scale, acquired Payable for LKR 2.6 billion in a strategic move set to boost Payable’s digital payments capabilities and merchant network in Sri Lanka.

The Sri Lanka Fintech Forum is a platform dedicated to promoting innovation, collaboration, and growth within the financial technology sector. It aims to unite industry leaders, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and technology experts to explore the latest trends, share valuable insights, and drive the adoption of cutting-edge financial technologies.
